Shelburne Curlers Winning Bonspiels
Shelburne curler Tom Little is on a roll, having skipped two different teams to victory in two recent bonspiels.
On November 17th, the team of Tom Little, Bryan Brown (vice), Gord Brown (2nd) and Darren Carr (lead) captured the win in the Oscar's Roadhouse Men's Bonspiel at the Chingacousy Curling Club. This same team won the same event in 2016!
Then on November 24th, Tom curled with Kathi Fisher (vice), Rob Scott (2nd) and Joanne Hunt (lead) to a win in the Alliston Curling Club's mixed Bonspiel.
Great job to all these curlers for representing Shelburne so well on the road.
Curler's Improve Delivery in Clinics
Shelburne curlers had a chance to improve their delivery thanks to two recent events held at the club.
On November 10, CurlOn brought out their clinic team for our third annual Skills Analysis Clinic. The instructors observed the participants' delivery, then gave tips and guidance to improve their techniques. The eighteen members who participated were given lots of suggestions to bring to their regular game.
Then, because many of our members opt for "stick" delivery rather than a slide from the hack, John Gregory taught another clinic all about improving stick delivery on November 27th. This was a great opportunity for curlers new to the stick to learn as well as experienced stick curlers to improve upon their technique.
A big thanks to Gordon Stephen for organising the clinics, all the instructors (especially our own John Gregory) and also all the participants for coming out eager to learn.
